Celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn has expanded his PLNT Burger stalls across Whole Foods locations throughout the DMV area, as well as in Pennsylvania, Boston, and New York. PLNT Burger crafts plant-based patties to order and cooks them on a flattop grill. The burgers are accompanied by crispy sides such as herb fries and oat milk soft serve. In 2023, new menu items include green bean fries made with sunflower oil and quinoa, and an Actual Veggies burger featuring kale, broccoli, and spinach served on warm pita.
This ultra-chic, plant-based restaurant in Bethesda offers a vibrant menu that strikes the perfect balance between healthful and indulgent. The Bethesda location exudes warm Miami vibes and features popular dishes like vegan sushi, fresh juice cocktails, pasta with a rich and spicy rosé vodka sauce, and a vegan take on Maryland’s iconic crab dip, made with fresh hearts of palm flown in from Hawaii three times a week. This spring, their Asian-inspired sibling, Planta Queen, made its debut in the West End.
David Perez and Carolina McCandless, the owners of this charming cocina in Takoma Park, first crossed paths a decade ago while working at San Francisco’s acclaimed vegetarian Mexican restaurant, Gracias Madre. A significant portion of their Maryland menu is vegan, featuring dishes such as gorditas, quesadillas filled with tequila-sauteed mushrooms or grilled cactus, and convincing cashew-based cheese and cream. Cielo Rojo is set to relocate to a larger space down the street to accommodate their new Mexican venture, San Pancho Burritos, which is scheduled to open in winter 2024.

In DC, we hold the titles of registered dietitians and nutritionists, which are protected and can be used interchangeably within the district.
Absolutely! We are registered members of licensed dietitians by DC Health. Rest assured, you will receive an insurance receipt as licensed dietitians and nutritionists following each consultation.
At present, we offer only online consultations via Zoom. This method enables us to reach a broader audience, as our plant-based clientele is relatively small. Our goal is to support as many individuals as possible throughout DC with plant-based nutrition.
We will provide insurance receipts at the end of each session.
We apologize, but we can only provide insurance receipts for services rendered by registered dietitians or nutritionists within the District of Columbia.
We do not currently offer direct billing at this time.
The frequency of appointments will be customized to your goals and current situation. Typically, we meet with clients at least five times a year. The number of sessions needed can vary; some clients may require just a few meetings, while others might benefit from weekly sessions over a longer period. We recommend scheduling a discovery call to gain a detailed understanding and create the best plan for your specific needs.
We can typically start working with you within a week. To begin, you can either schedule a discovery call for personalized guidance or book an appointment directly with your designated dietitian. Please visit our contact page to ensure a smooth process and start your journey toward improved plant-based nutrition and overall wellness.
