You guys. These apple pie dumplings are SO good. Like ridiculously good.

Think little warm pockets of apple pie goodness with a fried coating of cinnamon sugar. Nothing can beat that. These little vegan apple pie dumplings are easy and fun to make, too.

The secret ingredient in this apple pie dumplings recipe: rice paper

Until these apple pie dumplings started to trend, I had only ever used rice paper for salad rolls. It all started with a Tik Tok video for rice paper dumplings.

Rice paper is thin, edible paper made from rice flour and water. It is also essentially flavourless, making it perfect for dumplings.

In its raw form, rice paper is hard and cracks under pressure. But once it is soaked in warm water for a few seconds, it becomes soft, sticky, and flexible. From there, it can be eaten as is or cooked further.

What makes these apple pie dumplings vegan?

As mentioned above, rice paper is made of rice flour and water. There is no lard, butter, eggs, or animal products in this apple pie!

And as a bonus for our celiac and gluten intolerant friends… this recipe is 100% gluten free! If you haven’t had apple pie for years because of its gluten content I am happy to say that today is your day.
