Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you a registered dietitian or a nutritionist in Hawaii?

In Hawaii, the titles “dietitian” or “licensed dietitian” are reserved exclusively for those holding a Hawaii state license. Simply put, all our dietitians are registered in at least one state, but not specifically in Hawaii.

Our mission as a plant-based dietitian company is to extend our nutritional care to a broad American audience and offer accessible, inclusive services. To achieve this, we operate as plant-based “nutritionists” in Hawaii and our contracts specify services by a “Nutrition Expert”.

Despite these title adjustments, we guarantee that every member of our team delivering telehealth services in Hawaii has earned a bachelor’s degree, enabling them to clear the federal dietetic state exam. They are active members of the Commission on Dietetic Registration and hold registered dietitian licenses in one of the U.S. states.

This approach allows us to maintain high standards of service while expanding our reach, offering expert, plant-based nutritional guidance to more people, and optimizing our online presence for those seeking quality plant-based nutritional advice. We look forward to working with you.

  • What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

    Dietitian:

    Nutritionist:

    • The title “nutritionist” isn’t as strict.
    • Some nutritionists have college degrees in nutrition science, but some don’t have much formal education in this area.
    • In some places, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, no matter their education or training.

All our team members who provide plant-based telehealth services are federally recognized as registered dietitians, having completed extensive education and successfully passed their CDR exams.

  • Do you do in-person consultations in Hawaii?

Regrettably, currently, we can only provide online consultations, and this is strictly through Zoom. This choice stems from the reality that our clients who are in pursuit of plant-based advice constitute a minor segment. Our primary goal is to broaden our support to a more diverse group of people throughout Hawaii, concentrating specifically on plant-based nutrition.

  • Do you provide dietitian insurance receipts for the services offered in Hawaii?

Currently, we are able to operate solely as nutritionists and nutrition experts within the state of Hawaii.

We chose not to pursue individual Hawaii licensing for our registered dietitians. As a result, we are unable to provide insurance receipts for registered dietitian services in Hawaii.

  • When can I commence consultations with my Plant-Based Dietitian/nutritionist?

We usually start working together within a week! Whether you’d like a discovery call for personalized advice or prefer to book an appointment with your dietitian right away, please visit our contact page. We’re here to make your journey to better plant-based nutrition and well-being as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

  • How many online consultations do I need with my vegan nutritionist?

The number of sessions will depend on your goals and current situation. Typically, we interact with clients at least five times a year. The required number of sessions can vary, with some clients needing only a few consultations and others benefiting from weekly meetings over a prolonged period. We recommend scheduling a discovery call to gain more comprehensive insight and to develop a customized strategy that meets your unique needs.
